Required Skills

  1. Performs initial cytological evaluation of gynecological (SurePath and conventional) specimens.
  1. Performs initial cytological evaluation of non-gynecological specimen preparations including fine needle aspirations and special stains.

Required Experience

Education:

Baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology or science related degree with successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • A valid CT(ASCP) certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) is required. A SCT(ASCP) certification is suggested for FNA/core biopsy adequacy performance.
  • In order to perform rapid on site evaluation of FNA/core needle biopsies, cytotechnologists will be required to pass all tests and competencies established by the cytopathology technical director for the selected procedures.

  2. The technologist checks the patients’ chart or scripts to be sure the exam ordered by the physician matches the requisition received by the department.
  3. Use independent professional judgment to assure exam will clinically evaluate the given diagnosis. Refer discrepancies to radiologist or ordering physician.
  4. Prepares the room, equipment, medication and secures supplies needed to perform the exam and maintain a clean and safe environment for patient.
  5. Will adhere to safety standards set forth by the organization in accordance with ACR guidelines (ALARA).
  6. The technologist will explain the procedure and the function of the equipment to the patient as well as answer any questions the patient may have, will intently review the medical history, to include medication lists and lab results, if performed, prior to starting procedure, check patient record for previous pertinent information or procedures, contact radiologist when direction is needed, document appropriate information in the patient record/PACS system.
  7. Performs requested CT exams of appropriate regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the organization and the reading radiologist. Observes patient during procedure, reports unusual occurrences and records patients’ condition when necessary.
  8. Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or cart when necessary.
  9. Maintain knowledge on the composition, storage, and administration of contrast media agents according to department protocols under guidance and approval of a physician.
  10. Transfers, maintains basic quality assurance issues and recalls images from PACS system.
  11. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots when appropriate. Reports any need for service or repair to appropriate leadership.
  12. Participates in ongoing QA/QC and process improvement programs.
  13. Assists in providing a safe work environment and is dedicated to providing patient satisfaction.
  14. Maintain continuing education credits in compliance with licensing agency.
  15. Maintains clinical competency.
  16. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those regarding infection control, hand hygiene, attendance, and appearance.

  1. Via a team approach, the staff will coordinate the patient flow and schedule of the CT modality.
  2. The technologist checks the patients’ chart or scripts to be sure the exam ordered by the physician matches the requisition received by the department.
  3. Use independent professional judgment to assure exam will clinically evaluate the given diagnosis. Refer discrepancies to radiologist or ordering physician.
  4. Prepares the room, equipment, medication and secures supplies needed to perform the exam and maintain a clean and safe environment for patient.
  5. Will adhere to safety standards set forth by the organization in accordance with ACR guidelines (ALARA).
  6. The technologist will explain the procedure and the function of the equipment to the patient as well as answer any questions the patient may have, will intently review the medical history, to include medication lists and lab results, if performed, prior to starting procedure, check patient record for previous pertinent information or procedures, contact radiologist when direction is needed, document appropriate information in the patient record/PACS system.
  7. Performs requested CT exams of appropriate regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the organization and the reading radiologist. Observes patient during procedure, reports unusual occurrences and records patients’ condition when necessary.
  8. Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or cart when necessary.
  9. Maintain knowledge on the composition, storage, and administration of contrast media agents according to department protocols under guidance and approval of a physician.
  10. Transfers, maintains basic quality assurance issues and recalls images from PACS system.
  11. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots when appropriate. Reports any need for service or repair to appropriate leadership.
  12. Participates in ongoing QA/QC and process improvement programs.
  13. Assists in providing a safe work environment and is dedicated to providing patient satisfaction.
  14. Maintain continuing education credits in compliance with licensing agency.
  15. Maintains clinical competency.
  16. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those regarding infection control, hand hygiene, attendance, and appearance.
  17. Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required Experience

Education:

Graduate of an Accredited School for Radiologic Technologist, required

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

ARRT, required.

  1. Promotes evidence based, medication related care especially in the areas of Heart Failure, Stroke, AMI, Pneumonia, Sepsis and antimicrobial stewardship.
  1. Serves as an educational resource for patients, pharmacy colleagues, students, residents, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  1. Serves as a preceptor for PGY-1 pharmacy residents in critical care areas.
  1. Assists in the development of critical care related orders sets, pathways and measures

Required Experience

Education:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy required
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with 5 years hospital based, patient care experience, considered in lieu of Pharm.D.
  • Advanced Pharmacy Residency Training (PGY1) highly preferred
  • Advanced Pharmacy Residency Training (PGY2) in critical care preferred

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Licensed pharmacist in the State of Illinois required
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) required
  • Board Certification in Critical Care (BCCCP) preferred
    • BCCCP certification negates requirement for BCPS.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required

  • Emergency Neurological Life Support Certification (ENLS) preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years relevant hospital based, patient care experience required
    • Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy residency program in addition to two years hospital based, patient care experience will satisfy this requirement
    • Completion of a PGY-2 pharmacy residency program will satisfy this requirement
