Position Summary

Full-Time
Day Shift

The Nuclear Medical Technologist will use independent judgement to perform a variety of procedures utilizing top notch nuclear medicine equipment. This position actively collaborates with a variety of departments and colleagues including physicians and specialists. Patients often require services due to (but not limited to) cardiac events and oncology needs. Memorial Medical Center is a 500 bed teaching hospital affiliated with Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

Required Skills

  • Perform a variety of nuclear medicine imaging and therapeutic procedures on patients of all ages, according to established standards, policies, protocols and guidelines.
  • Advanced procedures including
    • PET Scans for Oncology
    • Dotatate Pet scans
    • Shunt patency exams
    • Brain death studies
    • Lymphatic scans
    • Cardiac exams
  • Therapeutic administrations including
    • Inpatient and Outpatient 131I ablations
    • Samarium
    • Xofigo
    • Y90 Therapy
  • SPECT/CT Imaging
    • Attenuation Correction and diagnostic quality studies
  • CT Scans
    • Oral and IV studies         
  • Maintain technical skills relating to imaging factors.
  • Maintain an excellent guest relations rapport with patients, visitors, Physicians and fellow employees.
  • Maintain skills in performing emergency and routine patient care as required

Required Experience

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Registered nuclear medicine technologist, ARRT-R or NMTCB, in good standing or registry eligible. The maximum allowable time to practice in a “registration pending” status is three months.
  • Active license required from the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety in nuclear medicine.
  • Maintain BLS CPR certification.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and guest relations skills required.
