Our organization was originally known as the Mental Hygiene Society, a name that was changed to Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois (MHCCI) in 1981. At that time, services were moved to our current location in Springfield and expanded to include programs for high-risk children and their families.
In 1996, MHCCI became an affiliate of Memorial Health. The following year, Community Counseling Services in Jacksonville and Logan-Mason Mental Health in Lincoln merged with MHCCI. The affiliation and subsequent merger created one of the largest behavioral health systems in Illinois. In 2016, Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois changed its name to Memorial Behavioral Health.
