As a top nursing professional, you can have a positive impact on the lives of patients, families, and peers. So we want to connect with you as early as possible and let you know that Memorial Health offers more of what you need to learn, stay informed of the most recent advancements, and create positive outcomes, including our exceptional internship program.
This is a full-time, paid opportunity that lasts up to six weeks and is designed to expand your understanding of every facet of the complex role RNs play. This is your chance to work alongside members of our nursing team. Eventually, you’ll come to learn to think and act like a nurse. Sharpen your assessment and critical-thinking skills. And develop relationships with clinical experts throughout the hospital.
During this unique experience, you will have the opportunity to be part of a group that discusses unit and hospital quality initiatives and reviews related new research. By the end of the summer, you will have a full understanding of the professional role of the registered nurse, how nurses assess patients, and how they meet the needs of their units.
We offer summer nurse intern experiences in such medical/surgical specialties as cardiology, neuroscience, renal (including transplantation), plastic surgery and post-trauma. But there’s more: You may also apply to explore specialty experiences, including preoperative services, psychiatry, and the emergency department. You can indicate your preference during the application process.
Internship opportunities are available at Springfield Memorial Hospital, Decatur Memorial Hospital, Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Lincoln Memorial Hospital and Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. Application deadlines and details will be released each fall.
