Required Skills
- Collects patient data within the clinical standards; records and updates patient’s record within ARIA. Reports significant variances to Radiation Oncologist.
- Establishes workload priorities and offers input into plan of care; encourages patient participation in plan of care.
- Provides and documents care within standards of practice, policies, procedures and protocols consistent with the patient plan of care under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist.
- Identifies expected outcomes individualized to patient needs under M.D. or Radiation Oncologist guidance. Works closely with other care providers (Radiation Therapists, Nurses, Aides, etc.) in department to maximize each patient’s clinical experience.
- Demonstrates competency in all required areas, including department-specific, age-specific, medication administration, and use of equipment. Start IVs or access ports for CT Simulations.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development by:
- maintaining ongoing continuing education,
- contributing to professional development of peers, and
participating in interdepartmental QA processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current registration in Illinois for practice as a registered nurse. IV certification and BLS certification needed. Six months oncology experience preferred.
