Working as the Echo Technical Coordinator at Springfield Memorial you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of cardiac and vascular specialized patient care systems and medical devices.  Acts as the liaison with Information Services, other MHS affiliates and physicians regarding cardiac and vascular technology.

Required Skills

  1. Serves as the information system technical resource for the cardiac and vascular departments.
  1. In conjunction with the Information Services department, interpret and/or investigate the potential impact on existing systems as new interfaces/upgrades, programs or systems are considered or introduced.
  1. Contacts external service providers and company representatives to resolve issues regarding system integrity, responsiveness, errors or service.
  1. In conjunction with the Information Services department, performs corrective and preventative maintenance on systems, including testing upgrades, verifying hardware availability and determining the accuracy of data received or sent.
  1. Researches and evaluates external vendors and associated products/services to meet MHS needs for technological support for the cardiac and vascular departments. Will be involved with selecting new vendors and developing request-for-proposals (RFPs).
  1. Performs up front and back-end testing prior to system or application installation and integration to ensure the desired results are obtained.
  1. Receives, prioritizes, and evaluates requests from users regarding system enhancement and support, particularly those that have unique configuration requirements or department-wide impact.
  1. Ensures the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of data used in assigned systems and applies the appropriate fixes for imaging, labeling, and billing errors.
  1. Designs and modifies user and physician training for assigned systems. Ensures the appropriate applicability, currency, and uniformity of training materials, modifying as appropriate. Establishes or deletes users as appropriate.
  1. Conducts training and system orientation for lesser-experienced users and assists them in developing and managing project plans associated with their work. Assists in developing workflow, training, policies, procedures, and performance standards for systems and associated staff.
  1. Develops policies and procedures related to use of systems, ensuring their ongoing maintenance, support and their continued upgrade and improvement.
  1. Participates in professional continuing education.
  1. Monitors cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and reports any deficiencies.
  1. Identifies quality improvement opportunities and uses appropriate QI tools/techniques to evaluate potential solutions.
  1. Assists cardiac and vascular sonographers in skill development to perform studies in manner required by policies and procedures.
  1. Assists with necessary tasks to achieve and maintain accreditation status in echo and vascular labs.
  1. Maintains competencies to perform echo and vascular studies.
  1. Validates technical skills of echo and vascular sonographers.
  1. Function as a Cardiovasular Sonographer performing evaluation of anatomy and pathophysiology of the cardiac and vascular systems by the use of Diagnostic Ultrasound.
  1. Obtain, review and bring together pertinent patient history, physical examination and supporting clinical data to facilitate diagnostic result.
  1. Perform cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures on patients of all ages by producing, assessing and evaluating ultrasound images and related data according to established standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  1. Provide interpreting physicians with an oral or written summary of technical findings.
  1. Maintain skills in performing emergency and routine patient care as required. Maintain certification in CPR (BLS).
  1. Maintain ARDMS credential through documentation of continuing education requirements of the credentialing organization.
  1. Organize and participate in daily activities that maintain operations: cleaning stocking, equipment evaluation, moving equipment to bedside studies, data entry and evaluation, emergency call rotation, imaging system electrical safety, equipment repair and diagnostics, Imaging and reporting system Dbase maintenance and Sys Admin functions.
  1. Maintain skills and expand knowledge in the areas of cardiac and vascular services.
  1. Adheres to behavioral standards.
  1. Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Credentialed by ARDMS with specialty certifications in two areas such as echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography and/or vascular and abdominal sonography.
  • Current CPR certification.

Experience:

  • At least three years experience in cardiac or vascular sonography or cardiac cath lab.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic working knowledge of information technology systems and their components and interfaces.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving, training, and project management skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and collaboratively with all levels inside and outside of the organization, including physicians and external suppliers as needed is required.
  • Sound knowledge and functionality of integrated operating system networks used in cardiac and vascular services is required.
  • Member of professional organization desirable.
  • Maintains active practice appointment as Cardiovascular Sonographer II or III providing care to cardio and vascular services patients.
