The Clinical Advisor interacts with clinical site coordinators, affiliate site administrative personnel, and accreditation bodies to maintain program integrity. The Clinical Advisor provides instructional content in a variety of courses. The Clinical Advisor also assists the Assistant Program Director in administration of the program as directed during the Program Director’s absence.

Also administers the following therapy: EZPAP, humidity and aerosols, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, BiPAP and CPAP administration and bedside pulmonary function/mechanics.
- Assesses patients’ conditions and response to respiratory therapy by checking patients pulse, blood pressure, respiratory frequency, tidal volume, inspiratory pressure, cough, sputum, breath sounds, and other pertinent data that relates to the patient. Must also be alert to adverse reactions of patient during treatment, plus be aware of proper response to emergencies.
- Recognizes signs of cardiopulmonary arrest and/or failure and assists in performing CPR procedures. Also must be able to recognize life-threatening arrhythmias or EKG strips.
- Modifies therapy to deal with adverse or ineffective patient response and reports changes to shift supervisor.
- Records procedures and patient response in appropriate electronic documentation, departmental paperwork, medication administration records, interdisciplinary plan of care and education record and requisitions. Completes both written and oral reports on patients and relays information to oncoming therapists.
- Participates in in-services, continuing education, and other staff development activities.
- Performs CPR procedures as part of the Stat Code Team.
- Keeps confidential all patient information received and follows MMC Guest Relations guidelines.

Required Experience
Education and/or Other Requirements
Must be a graduate of AMA approved School of Radiological Technology
Must achieve ARRT registration
Must have Illinois State license
Must maintain educational requirements for licensure and registration
Must be CPR certified.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of technical factors utilizing kVp, and mAs per anatomical exposure.
- Knowledge of patient positioning techniques required to image human anatomy.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations applicable to contrast media and medication.
- Knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
- Skill in speaking with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
- Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Ability to utilize hospital computer systems to manage and navigate patient care.

Manages, coordinates and performs nursing care with compassion and care for an assigned group of patients and their families and incorporate preventative measures as directed by Registered Nurse.

Required Skills
- Collects patient data within the clinical standards; reports significant variances to registered nurse.
- Establishes workload priorities and offer input into plan of care; encourages patient participation in plan of care.
- Provides and documents care within standards of practice, policies and procedures and protocols consistent with the patient plan of care under supervisor of an RN.
- Identifies expected outcomes individualized to patient needs under RN guidance.
- Demonstrates competency in all required areas, including department-specific, age-specific, medication administration, and use of equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development by:
- Maintaining ongoing continuing education,
- Contributing to professional development of peers, and

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Current registration in Illinois for practice as a licensed practical nursing. Six months experience preferred.
This position is performed within an environment of frequent exposure to blood and body fluids.
