Coordinates scheduling of all volunteers, securing substitutes when needed. Manages inter-department projects. Develops policies and procedures for volunteers to serve in various areas and departments of the medical center. Coordinates on-the-job training for volunteers and assists orienting new volunteers. Provides administrative support to staff. Assists with administrative duties for Friends of Memorial Medical Center and various aspects of volunteer recruitment, orientation, training, and retention.   Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Required Skills

  1. Coordinates scheduling of all volunteers, securing substitutes when needed. Notifies departments of cancellations.
  1. Works with other departments to coordinate volunteers completing in-office projects that support various departments within the health system.
  1. Develops policies, procedures, and position recommendations for volunteers to serve in various areas and departments of the medical center, abiding by legal and Joint Commission guidelines.
  1. Coordinates and provides on-the-job training for volunteers and assists with orientation of new volunteers.

  1. Serves as the department liaison to Senior Services of Central Illinois’ Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP).
  1. Provides administrative support to Volunteer Services department including helping volunteers resolve issues, assisting with various recognition measures, assisting with recruitment, orientation, and training, ordering supplies, posting updates to volunteers, and compiling various monthly reports, record keeping, and data tracking for the department.
  1. Coordinates sending of monthly anniversary letters to volunteers and floral deliveries to employees admitted to MMC, in conjunction with CEO’s office.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned, such as answering phones, assisting with the annual volunteer appreciation dinner, and assisting with various community outreach tasks.

Required Experience

Education:

·       Bachelor’s degree required or four years of working with volunteers or community-service related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Experience:

·       One year related experience working with volunteers required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

·       Outstanding professional demeanor and communication skills needed. 

·       Demonstrated leadership experience with staff scheduling and balancing multiple projects.

·       Proficient in Microsoft programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.

·       Moderate physical effort.
