Serves as a lead coordinator, technical resource and contact person in the Clinical Operations Division for all Sterile Processing (SP) instrument inventory and T-DOC needs.  Depending on lead assignment, provides training/education, work prioritization/direction and/or maintenance of the instrumentation inventory and sterilization information in T-DOC.

Required Skills

  1. Serves as a lead contact person and technical resources related to T-DOC and Instrumentation Inventory.
  1. Tracks all productivity metrics related to Sterile Processing and generates reports necessary to track departmental productivity metrics to key Finance and Human Resources personnel.
  1. Assists in developing workflow, training and work measurement methods and procedures for SP Technicians.
  1. Identifies individuals and opportunities for special projects, job enrichment and/or overall development and makes recommendations to leadership.
  1. Trained to perform all duties involved in the SP Technician position on an as needed basis but no more than 25% of the time.
  1. Performs all duties and responsibilities of any positions within the SP department as required (including shift rotation), particularly during staff shortages or as other business needs dictate.
  1. Performs other related work as required or requested.
  1. Maintains the instrumentation inventory and instrumentation/sterilization information in T-DOC for MMC.
  1. Assists in monitoring and evaluating the data related to maintaining standards of performance within the department that perform sterilization.
  1. Tracks and provides metrics related to missing or damaged instruments.
  1. Initiates all repairs and replacements of instruments for the Clinical Operations Division.
  1. Serves as the primary lead for obtaining competitive quotes on new, lost or damaged instruments to ensure compatibility with physician preferences and current tray assembly.
  1. Negotiates best pricing and serves as a liaison between Sterile Processing and the Finance and Value Analysis teams to ensure lowest cost is achieved for instrument purchases and repairs.
  1. Builds all new trays in T-DOC instrument tracking system and makes appropriate changes to T-DOC for any assembly changes.
  1. Actively works to eliminate waste and redundancy across Clinical Operations departments in the instrument inventory.

Required Experience

Education:

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Certification as a central service technician is required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses a comprehensive technical proficiency in all areas of the Sterile Processing function.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational, prioritization, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to train, lead and direct the work of others in all areas of the Sterile Processing function.
