Coordinate with staff and students, to promote and support the radiology educational endeavors. Serve as liaison between MMC and educational facilities. Using independent judgment, perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures utilizing a variety of Radiology equipment in applying prescribed ionizing radiation to patients for diagnosis and treatment. 

Required Skills

  1. Implement quality improvement initiatives through interdepartmental/ intradepartmental education.
  1. Monitor / coordinate clinical competency to ensure quality patient care by conducting quarterly image film review.
  1. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all requirements for licensing in the following areas not limited to but including: American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS), Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), American Heart Association (AMA).
  1. Support / coordinate employment, recruitment and educational activities of the Medical Imaging Department.
  1. Provide technological support to enhance imaging technique as required.
  1. Manage / supervise / schedule / orient and provide technical support to Radiologic Technologist and associated Medical Imaging program students.
  1. Support MMC as an educational radiology clinical site and act as liaison between MMC and educational facilities.        
  1. Provide clinical instruction/ supervision to the students.
  1. Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, goals and student progress.
  1. Attend off-site educational meetings as approved.
  1. Provide weekly clinical education sessions to students.
  1. Provide image critique with students.
  1. Facilitate a quality educational experience for Radiology Job Shadowers.
  1. Perform a variety of radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable, and surgical procedures on inpatients and outpatients of all ages, according to established standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
  1. Maintain technical skills relating to imaging factors.
  1. Maintain an excellent guest relations rapport with patients, visitors, Physicians and fellow employees.
  1. Maintain skills in performing emergency, trauma and routine patient care as required.
  1. Utilize proper infection control practices per the department procedure manual.
  1. Monitor the condition of equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient operations of the department.
  1. Ensure proper recording and transmission of patient information.
  1. Ensure the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  1. Take call required to assigned section of the department.
  1. Manage lead apron inventory quality/integrity process.
  1. Facilitate MMC Explorers Post event.
  1. Maintain a Medical Imaging Staff locker assignment and master list.
  1. Manage assignment and master list of Radiology image markers.
  1. Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required Experience


  • Bachelor degree or associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years experience in supervising or teaching preferred.


  • Active license required in Radiography from the IEMA Division of Nuclear Safety.
  • ARRT-R registration required.
  • Maintain BLS CPR certification.


  • Minimum of five (5) years full-time professional experience as a radiographer.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving, training, interpersonal, planning and customer relation skills.
  • Possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, data base, presentation, and project computer application software. Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Publisher and Project) is strongly preferred.
  • Capability to adapt to a wide range of work environments.
  • Self-directed and highly motivated to perform functions without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate competency in clinical skills.
  • Moderate physical effort.
