PAINTER
Position Summary
Provides painting and wall maintenance to all areas of Memorial Health System as assigned. Insures that work is
completed per established policies/procedures, work order specifications and appropriate codes.

Required Skills
- Establishes work priorities ensuring efficient organization and coordination of activities in regards to wall repair and painting per codes and specifications.
- Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old finish, sanding and/or placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices in an effective and efficient manner.
- Applies primer and finishing coats with spray gun or brush in an effective and efficient manner.
- Stains or varnishes wood work in an effective and efficient manner.
- Orders paint supplies and takes inventory to promote efficient use of material.
- Maintains appropriate dress and appearance, projecting a positive image of the Medical Center.
- Mix colors and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency in an effective/efficient manner.
- Follows all safety procedures/policies and maintains effective standards of cleanliness of the Medical Center and its equipment.
- Knows thoroughly all hospital disaster codes and follows proper procedures immediately.
- Interacts with patients and Medical Center personnel in a courteous, helpful, cooperative professional manner and follows Code of Conduct of Memorial Medical Center.
- Assists with completing division goals.
- Coordinates assigned work to meet the needs of customers, patients, visitors and ensures customer satisfaction.
- Develops work practices that utilize time and material efficiently.
- Completes all work orders in CMMS system accurately and within the time required.
- Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required Experience
Education: · Associate’s Degree, completion of an apprenticeship program in painting, or four years painting experience required. |
Licensure/Certification/Registry: · Must possess valid Illinois drivers license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required). |
Experience: · Four years commercial painting experience required. |
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: · Thorough knowledge of painting and wall repair. · Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply complex building codes such as NFPA and Joint Commission. · Ability to read and understand blueprints. · Analytical skills necessary to estimate building costs and quantities of materials and supplies needed. · Ability to work on multiple painting and wall repair projects simultaneously. · Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for long periods of time. · Have basic computer knowledge. |
