Position Summary

$15.75 - $22.52

Receives, inspects and disassembles home medical equipment and performs the necessary cleaning and maintenance of equipment. Performs operational performance checks to ensure quality and proper functionality of equipment. This position will also include minor troubleshooting and repair on equipment, with any major repairs referred to the Equipment Repair Technicians. Any equipment that doesn’t meet quality standards, compliance, safety requirements will be discarded or retired from use.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

  1. Participates in, and successfully completes all required onsite, offsite and on-the-job training to ensure the safe compliant execution of all job duties. Keeps informed of procedural and safety changes as new equipment or guidelines introduced.
  2. Receives, inspects, and disassembles equipment to be cleaned and/or maintained.
  3. Uses a variety of cleaning agents and or other chemicals to clean equipment according to standard procedures or manufactures guidelines.
  4. Abides by all OSHA guidelines and regulations.
  5. Reassembles equipment and performs basic operational checks, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure proper operation.
  6. Performs maintenance on equipment and identifies situations where repair and/or extensive troubleshooting and testing are warranted.
  7. Works with equipment repair colleagues to share information relating to operational verification failures and other cleaning/maintenance issues.
  8. Compiles and files operational verification forms in accordance with standard procedures.
  9. Maintains a complete and accurate inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and accessories. Reordering as needed to maintain an efficient operation.
  10. Identifies possibly hazardous situations involving home medical equipment and reports damage or need for repair to the appropriate staff or management.
  11. Receives, inspects, cleans, and replaces returned rental equipment back into the inventory.
  12. May drive a company vehicle to transport a variety of durable medical, mobility and basic respiratory care equipment and supplies to patients’ homes. Performs all the pre-trip safety verification routines. Inspects vehicle and reports needed for repair or maintenance issues to ensure vehicle complies with inspection requirements.
  13. Loads/Unloads medical equipment to and from the company vehicle. As necessary, utilizes assistance devices such as dollies, carts, cargo straps, etc.
  14. Enters and retrieves basic information to and from the DME software system relating to home medical equipment or noting patient accounts.
  15. Serves as a back-up for other areas within the unit or department, especially during times of special needs or colleague absences.
  16. Performs a wheelchair inventory daily and provides to Inventory department.
  17. Crushes boxes daily to include making a bail if needed.
  18. Flushes eye wash stations once weekly.
  19. Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required Experience

Education:

·       Education equivalent to graduation from high school is required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

·       Must possess a valid IL driver’s license and be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five-year MVR will be required).

Experience:

·       Electrical maintenance and repair or related experience preferred but not required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

·       Must be detailed oriented, organized, focused and personable.

·       Ability to use a variety of medical testing equipment.

·       Demonstrates the ability to push and pull up to 75 pounds.
