The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse provides total age-appropriate patient care immediate post-op, as patients are recovered/waking from anesthesia following surgery or procedures. They will provide family visits for patients as appropriate during recovery period and will serve as an inpatient pre-op holding area for patients coming from ED/nursing units to the OR. 

The registered nurse is responsible for delegation, supervision, and provision of nursing care for a designated group of patients through utilization of the nursing process.  They will provide age-appropriate care and will participate in research when appropriate and incorporate research findings into evidence-based clinical practice. Outpatient RN – Main Surgery Services

** NO WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS **

Schedule: M-F, Days (5:00am – 1:30pm)

Three weeknight call shifts (7pm-11pm) within 6 week schedule (One hour response time)

The Main Surgery Services Registered Nurse is an outpatient position, providing pre and post op care for patients coming from the Main OR, including Phase II Recovery.

The Registered Nurse (RN), 2E Medical Unit will provide care on a General med-surg unit with 21 beds serving an adult, elderly population. Patients have a variety of diagnoses, including respiratory illnesses and infections, and usually present with a variety of comorbidities. Care includes IV antibiotics, lab monitoring, wound management and dressing changes, including VAC dressings, tube feeding management, drain care, chest tubes, off-site cardiac monitoring and central line management.

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Short Stay Unit (6B) is a fast paced, quick turnaround unit with frequent admissions and discharges. All beds have “on-site” telemetry monitoring. Many opportunities for assessments, teaching, IVs, chest tubes, dressings, analysis of laboratory values and medication administration and management.  Patient population is primarily focused on cardiopulmonary diagnosis such as Chest pain, Acute onset Afib, Heart failure, COPD, Asthma, Pneumonia, Acute PE/DVT. Cath lab and CVOR post procedural patients such as Cardiac stents, Ablations, Watchmans, Pacemaker/ICD insertion and Video Assisted Thoracoscopy surgery (VATS).

2E Oncology: Registered Nurse will care for patients whose treatment may be medical, surgical or radiation. They will also assist in managing side effects of chemotherapy along with many IVs, nursing treatments, medication administration, chemotherapy, transfusions, trachs, pegs, drains, colostomies and pain management.

The Trauma/Burn Unit is a high energy unit focused on the intensive care and treatment  of patients that have experienced critical illnesses as a result of trauma or burn injuries. Because this unit cares for complex patients, there is a heightened opportunity for learning and growth alongside a team of experienced nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists and other health care professionals.

The Trauma/Burn Unit registered nurse will be provided with the education and certifications needed to develop and grow in this role. 

Springfield Memorial Hospital is a  Regional Burn Center which is one of a limited number of hospitals  in the state of Illinois who provide care to burn patients, serving a wide region across central and southern Illinois. The ICU provides intensive care for burn patients  before transferring the patient to a lower level of care and rehabilitation.
