Event Navigation
Healthcare Explorers of Central Illinois (formerly Memorial Explorers Post 1897 and Medical Explorers Post 998) is a hands-on program open to high school students who are interested in learning more about careers in healthcare. Students will be exposed to a full array of healthcare career options including rehabilitation, nursing, emergency medical services, perioperative services and more. Memorial Health System and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine are partnering together to offer a more robust exploring program to high school students with monthly sessions that run from October through May.
Each session will take students through various stations in a specific healthcare field to get a better feel for the responsibilities associated with each department as well as the educational requirements for that particular career. There are no attendance requirements and students can choose to attend whichever sessions they are most interested in. The program will conclude with a Recognition Ceremony on May 25 to celebrate the completion of the program.
